PERSONAL FACTORS OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS' READINESS FOR A CONSCIOUS CHOICE OF PROFESSION
The purpose of the article is to present the results of an empirical study of personal factors of high school students' readiness for a conscious choice of profession.
The study involved 120 high school students, students in grades 9-11 at the age of 16-18. The "Multifactor Personality Questionnaire 16PF" by Ketell (Kapustina, 2001), "Emotional Self-Consciousness" (O. Vlasova) (Vlasova, 2005) were used; "Test of meaningful life orientations" (J. Crumbo, L. Maholik) (Leontiev, 2000); "Methodology for studying the status of professional identity" (A. Azbel) (Azbel, 2006); "Questionnaire for determining professional readiness" (L. Kabardova) (Zeer, 2004); "Professional motivation of the student" (L. Vereshchagina) (Vereshchagina, 2010), the author's questionnaire "Your choice of profession".
Based on the results of an empirical study, the importance of personal factors of a conscious choice of a profession among high school students was established: the qualities of their intellect, meaningfulness of life, emotional self-awareness. Four statuses of professional identity are defined, according to which the "personal profiles" of high school students are described.
It was found that students with an indeterminate status of professional identity (25.8%) are characterized by increased anxiety and tension, reduced self-control, as well as rejection of responsibility for their own emotions, do not have clear goals in life. Those surveyed with an imposed professional identity (29.2%) are characterized by a developed intellect, emotional instability, impulsiveness, compliance, dependence on the thoughts and actions of people around them. Students with a crisis of choice (status "moratorium" 16.7%) revealed a developed intellect, courage in social contacts, striving for something new, increased anxiety and tension. The established professional identity is characteristic of 28.3% of high school students with high intellectual abilities, courage in social contacts, independence and self-control, high meaningfulness of life, the presence of goals for the future, the desire for self-realization.
The results of the study complement scientific work in this direction and confirm the insufficiently developed readiness of high school students for a conscious professional choice.
